Toy store Hamleys has implemented a new Mobile Point of Sale (POS) solution from Sanderson in order to offer customers a quick and easy way to purchase goods during the busy Christmas trading period.
The solution, which is being piloted at the Regent Street store, enables store assistants to effectively ‘wear’ the POS – in the form of a utility belt – meaning they can move around the store with the devices to take payments away from the tills, thus reducing queues.
Mobile PoS is an extension to the Retail-J solution from Torex which Hamleys uses to run its retail business. David Oakley, Head of IT at Hamleys, comments: “Mobile PoS is the perfect solution to maintaining our high customer service levels during peak trading times. It is completely flexible and has saved valuable retail space that would be lost if we had installed a permanent pay station”.
